On September 17, within the framework of Economic Development Program, Agricultural Fair has been held in Batumi where first year harvest of Economic Development Program has been brought for sale. 21 beneficiaries from Adjara highlands participated in the Fair. 8 tons of potatoes, 1,5 tons of tomatoes and 25 kg of honeys is to be sold.
It should be noted that farm produce of the fair surpassed general quality level of the market by far. As beneficiaries themselves marked, retail price of their potatoes of previous year has been 20-25 tetri for a kilogram, new harvest was priced at 45-47 per kilogram. Increase of prices can’t be entirely written off as part of general trend of rising prices, as inflation resulted in average increase of 5 tetri.
One day Fair has been a success. Retail traders have shown great interest towards presented production, and by midday all harvest has been sold.
