CSO Development Effectiveness - National Consultation in Georgia
 

Georgian National Consultation on CSO Development Effectiveness was held in Bakuriani on 25-27 June.
The meeting had two main objectives: on one hand, the involvement of Georgian CSOs in the global process of development effectiveness, which is underway under the aegis of an Open Forum for CSO Development Effectiveness, and on the other hand, the determination of main trends of CSO Development Effectiveness in Georgia.

35 representatives have attended the workshop, 27 out of them from CSOs, 7 from donor organizations, and 2 from the authorities and local self-government. The meeting was organized by the Civil Society Institute. Financial support was provided by the European NGO Confederation - CONCORD and the Open Society - Georgia Foundation.

Training programme for the Legal Department Staff of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia
 

On 23 and 24 of July, 2010 the training programme on the issues of Law Drafting Activity and Legislative Technique has been conducted for the Legal department Staff of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occuppied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia.

On 9, 10 and 17 of July, 2010 the training programme on the issues of The General Administrative, Administrative and Civil Procedural Legislation and Court Proceeding Issues has been conducted for the Legal department Staff of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occuppied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia.

On 3, 5 and 6 of July, 2010 the training programme on the issues of The Legislative Framework on IDPs and Mechanisms of IDPs Protection has been conducted for the Legal department Staff of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occuppied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia.

The Ambassador of the European Union awarded certificates to village leaders in Guria Region
 

On 2 June 2010, the Ambassador of the European Union, Mr. Per Eklund visited Ozurgeti. Mr. Ambassador visited non-governmental organizations operating in Guria, which implement the projects funded by the European Union.
Since 2009, in partnership with regional partners and with the financial support of the EU, the Civil Society Institute implements the project - ,,Supporting Participative Development of Local Authorities in Regions of Georgia". Main objective of the project is to raise the effectiveness and transparency of self-government through enhancing the cooperation between the population and self-government units (increase of participation). Within the project framework, 151 leaders have been selected and trained in 4 regions of Georgia, including 37 from the Guria Region.

Training on internal regulations of non-entrepreneurial (non-commercial) legal entities
 

On 26 March the Civil Society Institute has delivered a training on the issues concerning internal regulations and model documents of non-entrepreneurial legal entities. Representatives of civil society organizations working on social issues have attended the training. The training included topics that are frequently applied by the non-entrepreneurial (non-commercial) organizations, such as labor by-laws and contracts (sale and purchase, lease, service, labor); they have also got familiar with the procurement regulations. Getting familiar with mentioned issues will back and assist civil society organizations in performing high-quality and effective activities.
